Feed grown at home, water managed carefully, and soil treated as the asset it is — the farming side of a ranch that has to pay.
Purchased feed is the fastest way to lose money on cattle. Our farm ground exists to carry the herd through winter first and to sell surplus second, which means every irrigation decision, rotation, and input is judged against what it does to cost of gain and to the soil that produced it.

Small grains and cover crops
Barley, oats, triticale, and multi-species cover blends grown for grazing, silage, and rotation health. Cover cropping keeps roots in the ground through shoulder seasons and cuts our fertilizer bill.

Water and irrigation
Ditch rights, pivots, wheel lines, and flood systems managed against real water calls, with metering and scheduling. Where efficiency projects pencil, we upgrade infrastructure rather than push a system past its capacity.

Soil and range health
Regular soil testing, targeted amendments, noxious weed control, and grazing rest planned with the farm calendar. We track cover, species composition, and organic matter over years, not seasons.
